Chapter 1: The Return And The Arrival
I have returned. I’m back in beautiful Laguna Niguel, after a 10 day excursion to Hava Nashira and Chicago. Both Todd Kessler and Ryan Leszner jammed out during my set at the UnCommon Ground in Chicago. Little did I know Jeff Buckley performed at the same venue right before he blew up… got big… you know what I’m talking about. Our set was short and sweet, following a set by Chicago’s locals The Damn Choir. After we played Model Stranger closed out the night. I was lucky enough to have a group of friends who came out to support us. Following our set I found out WNUR 89.3 FM has been playing “Constellation,” on the radio. Looks like we are building a buzz in Chicago, and need to come back in the fall. I have returned.
Today I arrive at Camp Alonim. I have heard so many great stories about this wonderful camp, and can’t wait to experience them. During the school year, I have grown up going to shabbatons at Brandeis Bardin and have looked at all the murals without really understanding the significance to the summer community. Now for the first time, I will try to understand. I love Jewish summer camp. Let the arrival begin.
