MAY 26, 2015 (OAKLAND,CA) — Oakland based pop-folk artist, Mikey Pauker, this week, releases his latest music video, ‘SAGES’. Inspired by his interpretation of the story of creation and his own spiritual experience, Pauker brings together friends from the local Ecstatic Dance community in Oakland, California, to visually interpret his new single. Pauker explains, “The song calls out for humanity to be the sages, to teach, share, and be fully embodied.”  The dancers in the video are all part of what Pauker describes as a “medicine dance” which is the kind of deep prayer he experiences at Ecstatic Dance. “I go there, every week, no matter what I am feeling, and dance through it.  And when I am done, I come to some kind of clarity.”  Pauker’s video highlights the story of his own rebirth through community, dance, and connection with the Divine Mother.  As he repeats in the song, “We cry out to Mama for her lovin.”
Pauker’s sound has been compared to the music of Citizen Cope, Michael Franti, John Butler Trio, & Nahko and Medicine for the People.  He has shared the stage with well known names like Matisyahu, Trevor Hall, Yo La Tengo, and Local Natives.  His performance highlights include South by Southwest, Jacob’s Ladder Festival In Israel, and Burning Man.
‘SAGES’ is the first of a series of singles Pauker plans to release over the next six months at each new moon.  With such a strong patriarchal mythology weaving through his own religious experience, Pauker hopes to bring to light a new embodied spirituality, where the body is our temple and we worship the divine mother as our creator.
